Managing Your Product Photos
hey, it’s time to organize your photos
Natalie @DetroitKnots Checkmate Tunisian Crochet Pattern
gosadi lets YOU have full control over where your photos will appear.
Follow this guide to learn how to navigate your Photo Gallery and manage your Selling Channel Photos. We’ll help you display your Products in the best possible light while protecting your brand from potential copyright infringements.
How to Manage Your Photos
1. Understand the difference between the "Photo Gallery" tab and "Selling Channels" tab.
“Photo Gallery”: This is your photo gallery for this pattern listing. Upload all photos related to your pattern listing. You will be able to select which photos appear and their order on each Selling Channels later in the process.
** If you have imported from Ravelry, you may see photos that you have permission to use on Ravelry through their “Request to feature your photo” option. In this case, keep the photos in your Photo Gallery to sync with Ravelry but do not use them anywhere else unless you have explicit permission from the copyright holder.
Think of your Photo Gallery as your hub for ALL of your Product photos.
“Selling Channels”: Choose the photos that you want to show in your [Selling Channel Name] listing. Drag & drop to set the order. You can delete photos or add more from your Photo Gallery.
The first photo will become the Primary photo.
Please be sure only to use photos you are authorized to use by the copyright owner, if other than yourself.
2. Be mindful of photo ownership.
When managing your photos in the "Selling Channels" tab, delete any imported images that you do not own or have the rights to display on that particular Selling Channel. This will prevent them from being published on the selected Selling Channel of your choosing or on your DLP, but it will not delete them from your Photo Gallery.
Example: As, previously mentioned, Ravelry allows you to display images of your products, that were created by other makers, in your Ravelry shop as long as the maker approves. However, this maker is giving you the right to share their image on Ravelry. To protect yourself from copyright infringement claims, navigate to your additional Selling Channels, i.e. your DLP or Etsy tabs, and delete those Ravelry specific images.
This will not delete them from your Ravelry tab and it will not delete them from your gosadi Photos as long as they remain in your Photo Gallery and are on your Ravelry Selling Channel tab
3. Request Photo Rights!
We encourage you to reach out to the makers who are creating your products and requesting the rights to share their images. Your request should include the right to share their image across your social media, marketing materials, and your Selling Channels. That way if in the future you would like to share their image in your Newsletters, social media posts, or through gosadi to different Selling Channels you will be covered!
You can do this by going to your Photo Gallery. Click on the “Edit Detail” button. This will show you the name of the Ravelry user who owns the copyright of the image. In gosadi the copyright holder of imported images, defaults to the person who created the image in the Selling Channel of origin.
In a new tab open Ravelry and search for this person’s name.
Rights request message example. Text reads: hey, I love that photo so much. Thank you for letting me feature it on the Ravelry pattern page & listing. Would it be ok if I used that in other listings across my Selling Channels and social promotion for that design? I of course would give you copyright and credit. Thanks so much for making my design!
